Michele Miller

Michele_MillerAfter teach­ing at and man­ag­ing Dance Space Cen­ter, (now Dance New Ams­ter­dam) in New York, Michel moved to Seat­tle to join the Pat Graney Com­pany. With her busi­ness part­ner KT Niehoff she began Veloc­ity Dance Cen­ter in 1996 where she remains on the Board of Direc­tors. She teaches all lev­els of mod­ern dance at Veloc­ity and is on fac­ulty at Cor­nish Col­lege of the Arts. She spent a year as the Artist In Res­i­dence at the Hong Kong Acad­emy for the Per­form­ing Arts where she taught dance and chore­o­graphed work on the stu­dents. Michele has spent two sum­mers teach­ing at Bates dance Fes­ti­val in Maine, and has also taught at the Uni­ver­sity of Wash­ing­ton, the Uni­ver­sity of Mon­tana, the Uni­ver­sity of Ore­gon, and West­ern Wash­ing­ton University.

Michele’s prac­tice of Pilates began in NYC with her train­ing at the Pilates Stu­dio under Cary Regan, Phoebe Hig­gins and Romana Kryzanowska. She has since deep­ened her knowl­edge of form, func­tion, anatomy and re-patternization through exten­sive self prac­tice, con­tin­u­ing edu­ca­tion, and train­ing of instructors.

Michele’s strength and focus is injury reha­bil­i­ta­tion, reform pat­terns of move­ment, and help­ing clients to gain energy, ease and vital­ity as they age.
